This year's Michigan School Band and Orchestra Festival has concluded and all five orchestras received a Division 1 rating!
Symphonic Orchestra 1
Chamber Orchestra 1
Encore Strings 1
8th Grade Orchestra 1
7th Grade Orchestra 1
This is the highest rating an ensemble can receive at the festival. More importantly each orchestra gave exciting musical performances. Furthermore, each orchestra learned grew musically during the process of preparing for festival.
Mr. Rosin would like to thank all the orchestra students for their hard work and preparation this year. You should be proud of our accomplishments. Also, a huge thank you to all the parents who helped with transportation to each festival site.
This is a final reminder about Orchestra Festival this Friday, March 13. I am in need of 1-2 parents from each orchestra to ride the bus with us to and from festival. If you are interested, please email me a firstname.lastname@example.org You would only need to go for your students portion of the festival.
Also, please make sure that you student has the appropriate attire for the event. We had many students not in the proper uniform at our pre-festival concert. Here are the uniform requirements:
White Tux Shirt (ironed), black pants or long black skirt (please no short skirts), black shoes and black socks if you are wearing socks. No excessive jewelry. A drop necklace, watch, or stud earrings are acceptable. If you are having trouble or are unable to acquire these items, please let me know ASAP, and I will arrange them for your student.
The 7th grade Orchestra will play on Friday, March 13th at 10:55 am. 7th grade orchestra members should report to the Macdonald Middle School in uniform by 8:45am. The bus will depart for Charlotte High School promptly at 9:00am.
The 8th grade Orchestra will play on Friday, March 13th at 1:35pm. 8th grade orchestra members should report to the Macdonald Middle School in uniform by 11:45am. The bus will depart for Charlotte High School promptly at 12:00pm.
**Students should ride to festival on the bus. They may leave with their parents/ guardian after the performance, however I need a written note or email email@example.com ****
Parents are highly encouraged to come hear their student’s orchestra perform. It is always easier to give a great performance when there are friendly faces in the audience. All aspects of the festival are open to the public, however there is no videotaping allowed in the sight-reading room.
Participation in festival is an integral and required part of the orchestra curriculum. Thank you for having your student (in uniform) present for this very important event. You will be amazed at what you will hear from both orchestras.
Congratulations to the Chamber, Symphonic, and Encore Orchestras on their wonderful MSBOA Festival performances. Each ensemble received straight division 1 ratings! Better yet the ensembles gave very musical performances. Mr. Rosin would like to thank the HS orchestra students for their hard work and outstanding performances.
