This year’s MSBOA Orchestra Festival will take place on Thursday, March 10th at Okemos High School. The 8th grade orchestra is scheduled to perform at 10:05am.
***I am in need of 1-2 parents to ride the buses with us to and from festival. If you are interested, please email me at email@example.com***
**** I am also in need of 2-3 parent drivers to help take cellos and basses to Okemos HS. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you can help *****
Please make sure that your student has the appropriate attire for the event. Here are the uniform requirements:
White Tux Shirt (ironed), black pants or long black skirt (please no short skirts), black shoes and black socks if you are wearing socks. No excessive jewelry. A drop necklace, watch, or stud earrings are acceptable. If you are having trouble or are unable to acquire these items, please let me know ASAP, and I will arrange them for your student.
The 8th grade Orchestra will play on Thursday, March 10th at 10:05am. 8th grade orchestra members should report to Macdonald Middle School in uniform and come directly to the orchestra room 1st hour. The bus will depart for Okemos High School promptly at 8:45am. After our performance, we will have lunch in the cafeteria while waiting for our rating. Students can bring a bag lunch or some money for food. I think $4-5 would get you a couple pieces of pizza and a drink. We should return to MMS between 12-12:15.
Parents are highly encouraged to hear the orchestra perform. It is always easier to give a great performance when there are friendly faces in the audience. All aspects of the festival are open to the public, however there is no videotaping allowed in the sight-reading room.
Participation in festival is an integral and required part of the orchestra curriculum. Thank you for having your student (in uniform) present for this very important event. You will be amazed at what you will hear from the orchestra.
Our Pre-Festival concert will take place on Wednesday March 9 at 7:00pm at MMS. We will have a guest clinician there to work with the 8th grade orchestra for about 15-20 mins after they perform.
