Frank Kincaid
Violist- Symphonic Orchestra, Encore Strings
Bio
Frank was born in Washington, DC on August 31, 2002, he lived in the Washington Metropolitan area for two years before coming to Michigan with his mom, brother, and sister. Frank’s love for learning began at Whitehills Elementary School when he knew that the viola was the instrument that he wanted to play. Lessons with Anne Kearney-Looman at the MSU Community Music School were the beginning of improving his skills to the point that he was able to perform with others. Miss Anne provided the right amount of discipline, guidance, and support on all levels that not only helped Frank with his instruction but his life and will always have a special place in his heart. Frank met Mr. Rosin at McDonald Middle School and thus began an incredible journey filled with amazing music experiences and instruction. Frank experienced his share of tragic life events that music helped him work through the processing. No doubt about it, Frank is a true creative so no surprise that he performed in the Middle School Orchestra and continued to perform in the East Lansing High School for all four years of High School. In 2017 Frank auditioned and was accepted into the Encore Strings group. Anyone who meets Frank quickly notices that he isn’t your average high school student and that he marches to his own drum. He was not shy about his big blond afro which is just one manifestation of that creative soul of his. Frank's future will be filled with amazing accomplishments because he’s an expert in finding and walking his own path fueled by his imagination, adventure, and passion for life.

What was your favorite orchestra memory/ experience?
The trip to Washington, DC What was your favorite or most memorable concert? Performing at the Michigan Music Conference What are your plans for next year? I plan to study neuroscience at the Lyman Briggs College at MSU. |
What was your favorite piece of music that we performed?
Sibelius symphony no.2, 4th movement. Is there anything else you want to share? While this isn’t the way I wanted my senior year of orchestra to end, I am so grateful to Mr.Rosin and the cello section for the experiences I’ve had with them and for changing my life for the better. I am certain I would not be the person I am today if I had not stuck with orchestra. |
Anna Comstock
Violinist- Symphonic Orchestra, Encore Strings
Bio
Being a part of the East Lansing Orchestras throughout both middle and high school has given Anna Comstock another home within the broader East Lansing family. Year after year, Mr. Rosin’s hilarious stories and the distraction of music made orchestra class a refuge from the stress and chaos of school life. In her 8 years of playing the violin, Anna has had the joy of attending Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, playing in Encore Strings and the pit, and working privately with Lauren Hansen. She even had the opportunity to share her knowledge with younger violinists at Beginner Strings Camp in her summers. Outside of music, Anna has spent her time playing soccer, basketball, and flockey, as well as being a member of Creative Performance Club, NHS, French Club, and Science Olympiad. She is also the proud coach of an energetic team of 6th grade soccer players. Go Dragons!

What was your favorite piece of music that we performed?
It is a tie between "La Meurte del Angel" by Astor Piazzolla and "Lady Gaga Hit Mix." Is there anything else you want to share?
I would like to thank you, Mr. Rosin, for always pushing us to be our best and tolerating our grumbling and complaining. I'd also like to thank all my fellow senior orchestra members. It has been a wild ride these past 6 (and for some even 8!) years, and I am going to miss you all so much. :) |
