Hello Everyone,
This year’s MSBOA Orchestra Festival will take place on Thursday, February 28th at East Lansing High School (Chamber) and Friday March 8th at Grand Ledge High School (Symphonic). **Please make sure that you have the appropriate attire for the event including bow ties. The Chamber Orchestra will perform on Thursday, February 28th at 2:20pm. Chamber Orchestra members should bring their uniform to school and report to the aux gym after 1st lunch. They will be excused from 5th-6th hour that day. They will need to arrange a ride home since they will not be finished with festival until about 3:30pm. Symphonic Orchestra will perform on Friday March 8th at 6:50pm at Grand Ledge High School Symphonic Orchestra (including woodwinds, brass, and percussion) will depart ELHS by bus at 5:00pm. We should arrive in Grand Ledge around 5:30pm. Symphonic will go directly to their coat room and then to warm up. Students may leave with their parents when they are finished with festival (I need an email or note). They may also return to ELHS by bus. I expect to be back sometime between 8:30-45pm. Parents are highly encouraged to hear the orchestra perform. It is always easier to give a great performance when there are friendly faces in the audience. All aspects of the festival are open to the public, however there is no videotaping allowed in the sight-reading room. Participation in festival is an integral and required part of the orchestra curriculum. Thank you for having your student (in uniform) present for this very important event. You will be amazed at what you will hear from the orchestra. Our Pre-Festival Concert will take place on Thursday February 21st at the High School. The schedule is: 6:30 PM – Wind Ensemble 7:00 PM – Chamber Orchestra 7:30 – Concert Band 8:00 – Symphonic Orchestra 8:30 – Symphonic Band Warm up is 30 minutes prior to each performance Thank you, David Rosin
