Hello Everyone,
I had a few parents and students ask me when my jazz trio will be playing in town, so here is a shameless plug. I will be playing with the Fred Knapp Trio, (which is my usual jazz trio) Friday April 8th from 8-11pm at ENSO restaurant in East Lansing. This event is organized by the Jazz Alliance of Mid Michigan (JAMM). The trio will will be joined by Ben Jansson on tenor sax. We will be playing tunes from our most recent CD Release "Standard and More. Vol 1" which came out about two weeks ago. This recording features Ben on tenor along with the trio. We will also be playing tunes from our first three recordings. The is no cover for this event. If you are in town, feel free to come out, have some great food, and enjoy some live music. Thanks for reading and have a relaxing and safe spring break,

Also, bravo to all the students who made Willy Wonka such a huge success! I had fun watching from down in the "pit." Hope everyone involved had a good time! This past weekend we hosted the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association District VIII Band and Orchestra festival at the High School. This was our second year hosting the event.
We had over 1000 students and parents come from all over Mid Michigan to participate in the festival. The site ran very well. We had fantastic support from our parents, students, and support staff throughout the weekend. We received many positive comments from parents, judges, and students from the other districts. This event once again showcased the wonderful facilities we have in East Lansing! On top of hosting the event we had eight ensembles (around 300 students) participate in the festival. The results were as follows. 7th Grade Band (Mrs. Kroth) Division I rating 8th Grade Band (Mrs Kroth) Division I rating 7th Grade Orchestra (Mr. Rosin) Division I rating 8th Grade Orchestra (Mr. Rosin) Division I rating Concert Band (Mr. Larzelere) Division I rating Symphonic Band (Mr. Larzelere) Division I rating Encore Strings (Mr. Rosin) Division I rating Symphonic Orchestra (Mr. Rosin) Division I rating So, every ensemble received the highest rating given at this festival. The division I rating requires an overall rating of A in the combined categories. We are very proud of the hard work the students put into these outstanding musical performances. Thank you again for your continued support of the instrumental music programs in East Lansing, |
